For those new to the BRHL World, here's a brief history of the BRHL.
In 2000 Eric D and I started a sim hockey league on the old FHL sim program, it was free and helped give us hockey junkies a reliable league to be in, as most FHL leagues were done within a year (kind of like OOTP). In 2006 we decided to ratchet up the competitiveness and decided to build a cash league, 50 bucks a season, all paid back to GMs for accomplishments (sound familiar). For ratings, we have actually done our own ratings package every year since 2000, and have the biggest subscriber list for ratings on the STHS platform.
We are wrapping up our 11th season, and for the past 3-4 years I've been pestered by a section of GMs to build an OOTP league. At my cranky old age, I have no interest in running free leagues, we know we do it better than anyone, so finally decided to do a cash league. Although we love the DEV system in OOTP, we wanted a similar setup to our NHL rerate hockey league, so we came up with the concept of updating ratings each year, so you're essentially building a long term keeper team, who gets OOTP ratings each year.
There no doubt will be some issues along the way, but with our almost 20 years experience running leagues, we will get through them. We are very excited to see the core and activity of GMs in the league already, many of which aren't OOTP veterans, but simply sim sports veterans, which is awesome.
So welcome, and we look forward to our OOTP league creating it's niche in the market place, just as the BRHL has in the sim hockey world.
