BRHL Award Voting 2018 Season
Almost every GM voted, which means the people have definitely spoken. Without further ado, here are the award winners for the 2018 season.
AL MVP ($25)
Freddie Freeman (1B-Twins)
Played in all 162 games, had 45 homers with 126rbi, while putting up an impressive 7.9war with a 1.055ops. It wasn’t a memorable season for Twins fans with a 75-87 record, one shudders to think what it would have looked like without the MVP.
NL MVP ($25)
Mike Trout(CF-Rockies)
Another MVP from a non-playoff team, looks like the BRHL GM's have identified how they will vote. Winning be damned, as evidenced by the Rockies 64-98 record. However, there's no arguing that Trout was a beast this year; a 1.069ops and a 8.7was both paced the league, and his 44hr and 104rbi were nothing to sneeze at. There's a bright future brewing in Colorado, and Trout will be center stage when that arrives.
AL Cy Young ($25)
Jose Quintana (Tex)
I don't think even the Rangers had this in their mind when they took Quintana. A 20-4, 3.09era season with a 1.05whip season was good enough for a 5.6war and a AL West championship. It was a banner year for Quintana, and truth be told, he ran away with the voting.
NL Cy Young ($25 split is $12.50 each)
TIE
Justin Verlander (SD)
Corey Kluber (Was)
Apparenlty there is ties in baseball. Verlander led the league in WAR, while Kluber led in wins. Both teams made playoffs, so it was splitting hairs, and apparently the BRHLO universe felt so too.
AL Rookie of the Year ($25)
JP Crawford (SS-Bos)
A 2.5war paced all AL rookies, he wasn't much power-wise, but his .267avg was respectable, and his defense was terrific. He only played in half the games, it's crazy to think how well he would have played had he not gotten hurt.
NL Rookie of the Year ($25)
Brent Honeywell (SP-CHC)
Another run away win. He slightly led the NL amongst rookies with 2.3war, he provided the Cubs with solid pitching and contributed to them staying competitive late into the year.
GM of the Year ($25 each)
Ryan Hicks (Tor)
Josh Fisher (Was)
TJ Barnaba (TB)
Fellow GM's have spoken. The two finalists and the team that arguably did the most trade wise during the season are your winners. A terrific season by all
Commish Award for league contributions ($25)
Larry Linke (NYM)
He (amongst others) pestered us for years to start an OOTP league, and he stepped up with helping us recruit, from day one, and continues to do so. He's always asking what he can do to help, was one of the GMs who helped run the draft(s) when we weren't online and available. Thank you Larry for your contributions, they were greatly appreciated by all.
