Justin Verlander SD
See MVP voting
Blaine Hardy MIA
Everyone’s favorite anomaly, Hardy pitched out of his mind this year. 181 innings of 2.58 ERA baseball is not what anyone saw when Hardy was penciled into the starting rotation but Miami wasn’t complaining.
Blake Snell CIN
It was a disappointing season for the Reds but Snell did his best to carry the team. His 2.58 ERA and 257 Ks were masterful, leading to a 4.9 WAR.
Chris Archer LAD
His 5.7 WAR was overshadowed by a down year for the Dodgers. His 204 innings provided a stable presence and he posted the lowest ERA of his career with a 2.51 number. He limited the long ball with a 0.8 HR/9 and his WHIP of 1.04 was also a career low.
German Marquez SD
The second piece of a SD rotation that should continue to dominate into next season. Marquez was only topped by Verlander in the ERA department, with a clean 2.45. He only needed to throw 191 innings to rack up a career high 207 Ks.
Luis Severino NYM
A career year as the ace of this Mets squad, he had 2.82 ERA on top of 219 Ks in only 188 innings. His 6 WAR was second in the NL, he also lo led his team to their first playoff appearance.
Lance McCullers Jr MIL
Maybe the best stuff in baseball when he’s healthy, as evident by his 241 Ks in only 168 innings which led to a league leading K/9 with 12.8. His 5.6 WAR was impressive and he was the clear ace of this MIL team poised to make a deep playoff run.
