2019 Review:
Record:68-94 5th in NL East. R/G Scored: 8th (NL) R/G Against: 12th (NL).
The DBacks made a lot of moves during 2018 season that set the DBacks up for the future but made this year a rebuilding year.
Future:
Salary Cap: 56.2 Guaranteed. Tons of caps space and no real FAs.
Lineup: Has one of the best young SS/2B combo's in the league. SS Fernado Tatis Jr. and 2B Gleybor Torres. That isn't all either with RF Alex Verdugo, C Francisco Mejia, CF Austin Hays, 2B Isan Diaz, 1B/3B Ryan McMahon, and 1B Christian Walker. With the veteran LF Josh Reddick the lineup next year looks to be a very good lineup with depth top to bot.
Rotation: Max Fried, and Griffin Canning lead the way for the rotation. Joey Wentz and Grant Holmes should both have a chance at contributing at the major league level this season. If the Dbacks want to compete next season they will need to find some top flight veteran SPs to bring in.
Bullpen: Has depth with the addition of 1 or 2 ace type relievers could become good enough to compete.
Trades Overview:
SP German Marquez for to SD SS Fernando Tatis Jr - Wasn't going to compete this year anyways so move a top flight SP for a SS who was the #1 prospect prior to the season and looked amazing in the majors this season. Tatis is a player with superstar potential that a team can be built around.
C Wilson Ramos to TEX for SS Thairo Estrada - Ramos was a rental so his value wasn't high. Estrada a mid tier prospect in the Yankees farm system but looks more like a UT IF long term. Still fine value for a rental.
FA Overview:
RF DJ Stewart 2 yr 2.3 Mil - Mid tier prospect that has played in the majors the last 2 season and has played ok. Past 1st round pick. Still has good upside. Smart signing for a rebuilding club. A-
RP Raynel Espinal 3 yr 14.04 Mil - Similar signing. However he is older and hasn't actually pitched in the majors yet. Not a bad signing just not quite the same upside as DJ. C+
Overall B. Not many moves but did get a couple of guys that have upside for the future.
