1. Andrew Vaughn Available Andrew was the # 3 selection overall in the 2019 MLB draft by the Chicago White Sox. Played at 3 levels ending up at High A. Won the 2018 Golden Spikes Award over Adley Rutschman, will be an early selection in our draft.
2. Evan White San Francisco Giants A very rich Evan White, signed a 6 year $ 24 M guaranteed contract before ever taking an at bat above AA. Considered a gap hitter with Gold Glove potential at 1B. Joins Brice Turang and Grant Lavigne (more on him later) as the top hitting prospects in the giants system.
3. Triston Casas Kansas City Royals A first round draft pick out of high school in 2018, Tristan advanced to Low A where he homered 19 times as a 19 year old. Currently playing 3B he is expected to move to 1B because of his 604, 238 pound frame. He joins Sam Huff (mentioned yesterday), K'Bryan Hayes and Travis Swaggerty as Kansas City's top minor league hitting prospects.
4. Ryan Mountcastle Atlanta Braves Drafted 36th overall in the 2015 drat out of high school as a SS, he played his first couple of years in the minors there. In typical Baltimore Orioles fashion, they moved him to 3B despite concerns about his arm strength and range. They moved him to 1B this year. Has steadily progressed through the minors playing all of 2019 in AAA with 25 home runs and a 312 avg and a full time gig awaits him in Baltimore. He is joined in an absolutely stacked Atlanta Braves system by Vlad (no last name necessary), Wander Franco, Yordan Alvarez and Keston Huira.
5. Seth Beer Atlanta Braves Did I forget to mention Seth in the stacked Atlanta Braves system, my bad. Drafted in the 1st round in 2018 by the Astros out of Clemson, he was part of the package the Astros sent to Arizona in the Zac Greinke deal. He already reached AA this year, homering 17 times in 322 at bats with a 272 batting average. His defensive ability pretty much limits him to 1B. He joins Atlanta's top prospects, blah, blah, blah
6. Lewin Diaz Los Angeles Dodgers He was signed by the Minnesota Twins as an international free agent in 2013. He started to put it together in 2015 and started progressing through their system. He reached AA this year and was traded at the trade deadline to the Marlins. He combined for 27 home runs this year with 14 at AA and 13 at High A. He joins Jazz Chisholm as the top hitting prospects in theorganization.
7. Bobby Bradley Pittsburgh Pirates For the 4th day in a row the Pirates get mentioned for having a top 10 prospect. Drafted out of high school in 2014 Bobby has slowly progressed through the Indians system, making his MLB debut this year. He hit 33 home runs while batting 264 in AAA. He dropped 25 pounds two years ago and the hope is he can be an average defensive 1B. He joins Kiriloff, Amaya, Gore, Whitley, Marquez, yada, yada, yada.
8. Michael Toglia Available Drafted by the Colorado Rockies in the 1st round of out UCLA, he is 605 and is considered athletic enough to play the OF but is above average defensively. He struck out a quarter of the time while playing in short season but the Rockies believe he can develop into an average hitter.
9. Grant Lavigne San Francisco Giants Joins Evan White as the 2nd San Francisco Giant on this top 10 list. He has a chance to be the first high school baseball player ever drafted out of New Hampshire to make the major leagues. After being an all star last year in short season, he struggled this year as a 19 year old in the South Atlantic League. Despite playing a full season he only hit 7 home runs and batted 236. His skill set keeps him at 1B.
10. Tyler Nevin Kansas City Royals Another team that has two prospects at 1B in the top 10, he was drafted 38th overall out of high school in 2015. He only played 1 game in 2016 and half of 2017 due to injuries. His performance hasn't matched his potential. He tied a career high with 13 home runs in AA this year and batted 251. Along with 1B he played 3B and the OF. He is ranked behind Toglia and Lavigne who are also owned by the Colorado Rockies.
