1. Wander Franco Atlanta Braves It almost seems unfair that the consensus # 1 prospect in Baseball is only the # 2 prospect on the Atlanta Braves behind Vlad. Wander was signed by the Tampa Bay Rays as an international free agent in 2017 and has dominated everywhere he's been, ending the 2019 season in High A as an 18 year old. In 192 at bats he hit 339 with an on base percentage of 408. Scouts consider him a plus plus hitter with above average power. He could outgrow the SS position but his bat will play anywhere. Along with joining Vlad in the Braves infield Keston Huira should be the 2B of the future.
2. Gavin Lux Miami Marlins The Los Angeles Dodgers drafted Gavin in the 1st round out of a Wisconsin high school in 2016, which is a rarity in itself. He had trouble adjusting to pro ball his first year but broke out in 2018, playing at three levels ending at AA. In 2019 he started at AA but once he was promoted at AAA in 49 games he homered 13 and batted a crazy 392 as a 21 year old. He was promoted to the majors and after a torrid start leveled off to a 240 batting average in 75 at bats. He joins the NL East winning Marlins but has Francisco Lindor playing SS.
3. Bobby Witt available The # 2 selection overall in the 2019 draft by the Kansas City Royals, Bobby has been on the scouts radar for years. He is considered a rare 5 tool prospect a SS and should be able to stay there. He should bt a top 5 selection in our draft.
4. Royce Lewis Minnesota Twins Royce was the first selection overall in the 2017 draft by the Minnesota Twins and I watched him dominate the Florida State League like I have rarely seen before in 2018. The Twins had him start 2019 back in the FSL which confused league experts. He proceeded to bat 238 in 94 games and seemed uninterested. He was promoted to AA and batted 231 in 33 games. He joins other Twin IRL prospects Trevor Larnach, Blaine Enlow and Jose Miranda on the BRHLO Twins.
5. Carter Kieboom Chicago White Sox Carter was drafted 28th overall in the 2016 draft out of high school by the Washington Nationals. He has made quick work of their minor league system reaching the majors as a 21 year old. After batting 303 with 16 home runs in 109 games a mid season promotion to the majors showed he was not ready as in 39 at bats he got 5 hits and struck out 16 times. He joins Ronny Mauricio and Alex Bohm as White Sox infield prospects with Julio Rodriguez expected to be a top 10 OF prospect.
6. C J Abrams available C J was drafted 6th overall by the San Diego Padres in the 2019 draft. C J has plus plus speed and after being assigned to rookie ball batted 401 with a 442 on base percentage. He did play two games in the Midwest going 2 for 8 with a double, a walk and only striking out once. His future defensive position is in doubt where he might end up at 2B or CF.
7. Nico Hoerner Los Angeles Angels The 24th overall selection in the 2018 draft y the Chicago Cubs, Nico missed part of the 2018 season with injuries and broke his wrist in April of this year. After playing 5 rehab games in the rookie leagues and 70 games in AA where he batted 284, the Cubs promoted him to the majors. Nico more than held his won batting 282 in 78 at at bats. He only drew 3 walks which could be a concern. His defensive position is also in doubt but could end up at 2B. He joins Joey Bart as one of the two top prospects in the Angels system.
8. Jazz Chisholm Los Angeles Dodgers Chaz was signed as an international free agent by the Arizona Diamondbacks in 2015 and traded to the Miami Marlins earlier this year. He spent the entire year in AA batting 220. He also struck out 147 times in 112 games. There is little doubt the has the ability to stay at SS. He joins Kevin Kramer as a potential middle infield combo for the Dodgers in the future.
9. O'Neil Cruz Houston Astros O'Neil was signed as an international free agent by the Los Angeles Dodgers in 2015. One of the first thins you notice about him is that he is 6'06 and weighs 210 pounds which indicates he might outgrow SS. Due to injury he only played 73 games this year with 35 in High A and 35 in AA. At High A he homered 7 times and batted 301. In AA he homered once and batted 269. Between the two leagues he did have a 356 on base percentage. He joins Jordan Groshans as the top infield prospects for the Astros.
10. Marco Luciano available Marco was signed by the San Francisco Giants as one of the top international free agents in the 2018 class. He played the majority of this year in the Arizona Rookie League batting 322 with 10 home runs. Already 602 and 178 pounds he might outgrow SS but should have the bat to play anywhere.
