AL Rookie of the Year - Trent Grisham KC $25
Winner by a landslide, Grisham had 17 votes with three others receiving no more than one vote. He did so by pacing the young guys with a .297 AVG, 32 HRs, and 95 RBIs. His .297/.403/.557 slash line led to a 7.2 WAR, by far best of all rookies.
NL Rookie of the Year - Patrick Sandoval PHI $25
The Cy Young candidate received 12 votes, doubling the second-place finishers total of 6 in thanks to his league leading 2.37 ERA over 170.2 innings.
AL Cy Young - Max Scherzer CLE $25
After an MVP worthy season, no surprise to see him take home this award. Max threw 220.1 innings and struck out 280 batters, which led the league. The 36-year-old saw numerous top 10 finishes in the important pitching stats, showing his dominance was not limited to one facet of the game.
NL Cy Young - Danny Salazar CIN $25
Salazar continues to shock the world! He was nearly nontendered, now he has stolen a Cy Young award. His 19 wins led the NL, he had 225 strikeouts over 205 innings, and a 2.72 ERA, and won this award 8-5 over a pissed off Patrick Corbin.
AL MVP – TIE - Trevor Story BAL $12.50, Nolan Arenado KC $12.50
Gross, everyone hates ties, but we have one here. Story led the AL in WAR and hit 57 HRs with stellar defense at SS for a bad Baltimore team. Arenado had 37 HRs for the Wild Card winning Royals, while also playing excellent defense, but nearly missed the ballot all together in favor of teammate Trent Grisham.
NL MVP - Juan Soto STL $25
Runaway winner in the NL received 18 first place votes, winning by a 17 vote margin. He exploded to the tune of a .314/.444/.669 line, producing 56 HRs and 111 RBIs. Leading the league in AVG, OBP, OPS, and Soto was head and shoulders above the competition. He made that abundantly clear, with his league leading 11.3 WAR.
GM of the Year - Rumpy ATL (14 Votes), TJ TB (10 Votes), Mitchell CLE (9 Votes) - $25 Each
Rumpy leads in votes in route to his first playoff appearance in what was a division title. TJ wins the award for the second time after winning his first division title. Back-to-back GM of the Year awards land in CLE after another division title for Mitchell.
Commish Award for league contributions – TIE – TJ and Mitchell ($12.50 Each)
Mitchell wins the award for the second straight year, but shares it with TJ this go round.
We maxed out at 22 votes which was up from last years 18, but still head scratching why arms must be twisted to get votes on these awards. Take an interest in this great opportunity!
